ICBC Berlin, Germany 2023

Global Investment Forum, and B2B Expo

The International Cannabis Business Conference (ICBC) is Europe’s longest-running and biggest B2B show and conference. At the ICBC Global Investment Forum and B2B events which were held the last week of June 2023, we saw over 80+ countries and 5,000+ attendees come from all over the world to learn and navigate the international cannabis marketplace. Thousands of business professionals joined to connect, learn, and develop imperative relationships for their businesses in the evolving cannabis industry.

It’s evident that cannabis policy, laws, and regulations are shifting worldwide every day. With the political uncertainty around cannabis businesses always need to be prepared for what’s around the corner, and
3C Consulting, LLC (3C) is there to help navigate clients through the waters with our long-standing expertise and experience in the cannabis space.

There are cannabis conferences and tradeshows taking place all over the world. ICBC in Berlin is certainly one for the books. At the conference you’ll meet attendees there to achieve a variety of goals. For example, there are successful businesses that have been in operation for decades that are looking to acquire guidance to successfully enter the international cannabis marketplace or new businesses looking for consulting in the licensing and regulatory cannabis space. The main point- every business can benefit from attending an ICBC event.

The atmosphere was unlike any other; as I walked around the show floor, I spoke with representatives from hundreds of businesses from all over the world with different stories of successes and failures. The continuous buzzing of business conversations, old friends running into each other, and life-long partnerships developing was an experience that continued to build excitement to be part of this industry. As the Government Affairs Liaison at 3C, my background is in US cannabis policy and regulatory compliance. The plethora of knowledge I gained by discussing what’s happening in Germany, Switzerland, and Sweden (to name a few) was invaluable to me. At one point, I was discussing cannabis policy with an attendee from South America, and it dawned on me that every single attendee is dealing with similar issues in the cannabis space. As an expert in US cannabis policy, we discussed a unified frustration in cannabis policy from opposite sides of the world. Although the hurdles to be compliant in the cannabis space can be extremely daunting, the fact we could find solutions from different parts of the world was incredible. This example goes to show exactly what ICBC has to offer, the ability to make vitally important connections with people all over the world.

3C has attended ICBC for numerous years with the CEO, Nic Easley presenting on behalf of the company. This year Nic discussed strategies and tactics to prepare for domination in the evolving European and global market cannabis market titled “Cannabis Light, Opportunity Heavy.” Nic further explained, with the potential to eventually overshadow the $38.4 billion USD state-legal American cannabis market, eyes are on Germany, Switzerland, Netherlands, Spain, and many other countries in the European Union. Nic provided strategy and tactics for successfully navigating licensing, investment operational pitfalls, and business development opportunities across the continent.

On the show floor, we exhibited a booth and connected with businesses that would benefit from our services surrounding strategic guidance, business planning, license application, real estate, regulatory compliance, international good practice compliance, operational support, and investment due diligence. If you attended this year, I’m sure you couldn’t miss the 3C “piñata booth” with unicorns and tyrannosaurus rexes. We had a lot of fun and many laughs! Attendees took multiple swings at our piñatas and eventually hit them open, then German candy and toys poured out all over our booth floor. Let’s just say booth 322 was a colorful, candy-filled booth with a cheerful aesthetic feel unlike any ICBC booth ever seen before. Putting fun aside, the 3C staff connected with old friends, made new friends and made profound connections that will continue to benefit businesses worldwide.

Before the B2B conference, 3C attended the Berlin ICBC Global Investment Forum (GIF) at the Hotel Adlon Kempinski Berlin. The ICBC GIF is, first and foremost, an exclusive network. This network provides access to insider market information, capital investors, and exciting growth companies in the cannabis market. This year Nic spoke on navigating Germany’s first step towards a legal adult-use market in Europe and what that means for the global investment arena. Before the big B2B tradeshow floor ICBC conference kicks off, the GIF gives attendees the opportunity to network with precise and direct goals in a one-on-one atmosphere.
